Readout of Secretary Hagel's Call with Malaysian Defense Minister and Acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel spoke this morning with the Malaysian Defense Minister and Acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin bin Tun Hussein about the ongoing search for Malaysia Air Flight 370. 
 
Minister Hishammuddin thanked Secretary Hagel for the support being provided by the United States, particularly that of the U.S. Navy, and requested that the U.S. consider providing some undersea surveillance equipment as well. 
 
Secretary Hagel assured Minister Hishammuddin that he would assess the availability and utility of military undersea technology for such a task and provide him an update in the very near future.
