Readout of Meeting Between Secretary of Defense Ash Carter and Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga

Secretary of Defense Ash Carter met today with the Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga to reaffirm the foundational importance of the U.S.-Japan Alliance and America's rebalance to the Asia-Pacific region. They discussed in detail the progress of bilateral realignment efforts of U.S. forces in Japan. Both leaders vowed to cooperate closely to strengthen bilateral cooperation to maintain peace and security for the region.
