WASHINGTON, Dec. 12, 2014 – Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel spoke with Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon today about coalition efforts to counter the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, according to Pentagon Press Secretary Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby.

In a statement summarizing the conversation, Kirby said the two discussed a range of regional issues and reaffirmed the strength of the U.S.-Israel security relationship. Today's phone call followed the seventh meeting between Hagel and Yaalon, which took place at the Pentagon in October.
