Readout of Secretary Hagel's Meeting with Israeli Minister of Defense Moshe Ya'alon

Assistant Press Secretary Carl Woog provided the following readout:

This afternoon, Secretary Hagel met with Israeli Minister of Defense Moshe Ya'alon in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on the margins of the Halifax International Security Forum to discuss a number of regional security issues. During today's meeting, the secretary and the minister reaffirmed the strength of the U.S. Israel defense relationship, and pledged to continue to consult closely on the multitude of challenges facing the United States and Israel. Their discussions touched upon Iran, the situation in Egypt, the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations, and the humanitarian impacts of the continuing violence in Syria. The two also discussed ongoing cooperation to provide Israel with new, advanced capabilities, including the V-22 Osprey. This is the fourth time that Secretary Hagel and Minister Ya'alon have met in person this year.
