The Department of the Navy confirmed today that Cmdr. Dan Frederic Shanower, 40, of Naperville, Ill. was killed during Tuesday's attack on the Pentagon. He was previously listed as unaccounted.

The number of dead or unaccounted at the Pentagon remains 124, not including the 64 passengers on American Airlines Flight #77.

Search and rescue operations continue. To date, 88 remains have been recovered from the Pentagon and transported to Dover Air Force Base, Del. for identification.
