DoD Identifies Army Casualty

     The Department of Defense announced today that Staff Sgt. Mark A. Lawton, 41, of Hayden, Colo., was killed on Aug. 29, 2003, north of As Suaydat, Iraq.  Lawton was in a convoy that was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade.

     Lawton was assigned to the 244th Engineer Battalion, U.S. Army Reserve, Grand Junction, Colo.

     The incident is under investigation.
