Mr. Matthew P. Dubois

Mr. Dubois is the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Materiel and Facilities in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs.  In this role, he serves as the principal staff assistant and advisor to the ASD (RA) on all matters pertaining to the equipping and basing of the Reserve components.  He is responsible for developing and exercising policy guidance and overall supervision of National Guard and Reserve materiel, maintenance, equipment, sustainability, facilities, energy, and military construction requirements for the Defense Department’s seven Reserve components.

Mr. Dubois provides budgetary, policy, and management oversight of the DoD’s National Guard and Reserve portfolio of about $200 billion worth of capital equipment as well as an $80+ billion Reserve component facilities inventory, which includes over 40,000 buildings at 4,900+ locations.

Mr. Dubois retired from the Navy in 2011.  He was designated a Naval Aviator and for next 25 years he flew over 3500 hours, earned every designation in the P-3 aircraft, and deployed or detached all over the world.  He held many leadership, command, and staff positions rising to the rank of Navy Captain.  He is most proud to have served alongside the brave men and women of the armed forces who have always answered the nation’s call to duty with honor. 

Mr. Dubois is the recipient of many awards and decorations including the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, as well as other personal and unit ribbons.

Mr. Dubois was born an Army brat in Paris, France.  He attended Phillips Exeter Academy, Siena College, and Troy State University.
