WASHINGTON, March 4, 2010 – Women Airforce Service Pilots from World War II and representatives of deceased WASP will be honored with a Congressional Gold Medal during a ceremony in the United States Capitol on March 10. The WASP were a trailblazing group of 1,102 civilian female pilots, the first to fly military aircraft under the direction of the United States Army Air Forces during World War II.
In May, the Pentagon Channel's monthly, half-hour long program, Recon, will focus on the history and service of Women Airforce Service Pilots.
