Deputy Defense Secretary Visits London for Talks With British

Deputy Secretary of Defense Bob Work is visiting the United Kingdom to meet with senior government and military UK leadership and attend the naming ceremony for the Royal Navy's lead ship of the Queen Elizabeth-class of aircraft carrier.

Pentagon Spokeswoman Lt. Cmdr. Courtney Hillson said Work met with the Chief of Defense Staff General Sir Nicholas Houghton and other senior UK government leaders to discuss defense strategies and capabilities collaboration, including U.S.-UK cooperation on nuclear issues, procurement of the Joint Strike Fighter, and carrier operations. About the Deputy Secretary

Mr. Work most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of the Center for a New American Security (CNAS). From 2009 to 2013, Mr. Work served as the Undersecretary of the Navy. In this capacity, he was the Deputy and Principal Assistant to the Secretary of the Navy and acted with full authority of the Secretary in the day-to-day management of the Department of the Navy.
